President Bola Tinubu has ordered Nigeria’s top military commanders to relocate to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, in response to a renewed wave of terrorist violence in the region.

The directive was disclosed in a statement personally signed by the president on Tuesday, March 17, just hours after multiple suicide attacks rocked parts of Borno on Monday. The coordinated incidents reportedly claimed the lives of at least 23 people.

In the statement, Tinubu expressed sympathy to the victims and residents of the state, condemning the attacks while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ending insurgency. He assured that, despite the recent escalation, Nigerian security forces remain on course in their fight against terrorist groups.

The president also revealed that he had recently convened a high-level security meeting with leaders of the nation’s military and intelligence agencies. During the session, he approved the deployment of additional equipment and operational resources aimed at strengthening ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

According to him, implementation of these measures is already underway.

Tinubu further directed emergency response agencies to intensify efforts in providing medical care and support to those injured in the attacks, as authorities work to stabilize the situation in the affected areas.
