The Federal Government has announced an increase in the fees for Nigerian passports, raising the cost of the 32-page passport booklet with a 5-year validity from ₦35,000 to ₦50,000.
Similarly, the 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, up from the previous ₦70,000.
This adjustment was confirmed in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, DCI Kenneth Udo. The statement explained that the fee hike is necessary to maintain the quality and integrity of the passport document.
Although the Service acknowledges the potential inconvenience this increase may cause, Udo reassured Nigerians of the agency’s ongoing commitment to transparency and delivering quality services.
The statement also clarified that passport fees for Nigerians living abroad will remain unchanged, with the new fees set to take effect from September 1, 2024.
