NPFL Week 9 Preview: Exciting Football Action as Teams Battle for Points and Positions

Matches will be played in various stadiums across the country, as Nigeria’s “Premier football competition”, the NPFL enters week nine. 

In this weekend’s fixtures, two matches will be played on Saturday, November 18,2023. Doma United of Gombe, who are fourth on the table will host Plateau United, the Jos based team occupies the sixth position. Buoyed by their lone goal victory over Enyimba during the week in a re-scheduled match, “the Savannah Warriors” will go for the broke against their opponent from Plateau. Bendel Insurance will pursue the three points at stake as they welcome Kwara United in Benin City. 

In the other matches coming up on Sunday,November 19,Gombe United will welcome Niger Tornadoes of Minna,while Abia Warriors will be away to Rivers United. 

Enugu Rangers,currently third on the table,will be at their home ground  popularly called “the Cathedral”,against Katsina United,who maintains eleventh position on the league table. 

Sunshine of Akure will be the guest of Bayelsa United. The Port-Harcourt team is placed second to last on the ladder. Also bottom-placed Heartland of Owerri will travel to Lagos to trade tackles with Sporting Lagos at the water-front Onikan. Heartland remains the only team yet to win a match in the current season. Meanwhile,in a re-secheduled Week 8 match,played on Wednesday at the Dan Anyiam Int Stadium,Heartland settled for a 2-2 draw with visitors,Bayelsa United. 

In Aba,defending  champions Enyimba International,will lock horns with the current league leaders,Lobi Stars of Makurdi,in what has been tagged “match of the week”. Enyimba will be fighting to earn the full points at stake,to make up for their mid-week loss to Doma United, during a re-scheduled  match in Gombe. Second-placed Remo Stars will be guest to Akwa United in Uyo,and this promises to be another tough battle. Leading goal scorer,Sikiru Alimi of Remo Stars will go full throttle to maintain his current scoring expedition. 

The Oluyole Warriors, 3SC of Ibadan will try to impress their home fans, as they welcome four-time champions Kano Pillars. Shooting Stars are on the fifth position with fourteen points, while Pillars settles at the ninth spot, having twelve points. Top striker, Malomo Taofeeq, of 3SC will seek to increase his goal tally during the expected thrilling encounter.
