The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Mallam AbdulRahman AbduRrazaq from Kwara State, has assured to rally all 36 state governors in Nigeria to prioritize efforts aimed at enhancing the welfare of healthcare workers and facilities nationwide.

During a courtesy visit to the NGF Secretariat by the President of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr. Dele O Abdullahi, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized the importance of focusing on the goal to “improve humanity” and encouraged healthcare professionals to remain dedicated to their cause.

Dr. Abdullahi, in his remarks, appealed to governors to address inter-state migration and the emigration of doctors. He also highlighted the need for more tertiary healthcare institutions across the 36 states, emphasized the importance of manpower training, and called for an increase in hazard allowance for all doctors.

In another development, the 36 state governors are set to convene a meeting with Rodger Voorhies, the Chief of Global Growth and Opportunities at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). The NGF’s Chairman, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, extended the invitation, and the meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2023, according to the Director-General of NGF, Asishana Okauru.

The meeting aims to create opportunities for states across the nation to engage with partners in various sectors, including agriculture, poverty alleviation, and digital financial services. It reflects a collaborative effort to explore new avenues for development and progress in the country.
