Segun Ogunwuyi has resigned from his position as Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, effective Monday, October 12, 2026.
Ogunwuyi communicated his decision in a letter dated October 12, in which he expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the Oyo State Government and contribute to the achievements of the Makinde administration.
However, he did not state a specific reason for his resignation in the letter.
In his resignation letter, Ogunwuyi wrote, “I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026.”
He described his time in the administration as a privilege, acknowledging the efforts of the team working with the governor to advance the state’s development.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he stated.
The former chief of staff also expressed satisfaction with the administration’s contributions to the state, noting that he remained proud of the progress made during his time in office.
“I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State. As I take this decision, I do so with profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, with confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State,” Ogunwuyi added.
He concluded the letter by reaffirming his respect for the governor and his commitment to the state and the country.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter read.
Ogunwuyi is a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representative.
His resignation comes as Makinde continues to lead the state government, although no further details were provided in the letter regarding Ogunwuyi’s next move.
