Dangote Industries Limited has announced a ₦500,000 reward for anyone who provides credible information that leads to the arrest of individuals using the company’s trucks for illegal haulage operations.
The company said the initiative forms part of a renewed crackdown on the unauthorised use of Dangote-branded vehicles to transport goods and passengers outside their approved operations.
In a statement released on Monday, the company stressed that the whistleblower scheme is aimed at protecting the integrity of its logistics network and curbing fraudulent activities involving its fleet.
“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorised goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the company said.
Dangote Industries explained that each of its subsidiaries has designated haulage responsibilities and warned that any truck found conveying goods outside its approved category would be treated as engaging in illegal operations.
According to the company, Dangote Cement trucks are authorised to transport only cement, limestone, clinker, coal and high-grade gypsum, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are restricted to sugar products.
It added that trucks belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are approved to carry Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging vehicles are designated for bags and other packaging materials.
Similarly, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals trucks are permitted to transport polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited vehicles are authorised to haul only urea fertiliser.
The company warned that drivers found using its trucks for unauthorised commercial haulage, as well as owners of illegal cargo, risk arrest and prosecution under relevant laws. It also stated that goods recovered during such operations could be confiscated by the authorities.
Dangote disclosed that security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, have been empowered to arrest drivers caught using the company’s trucks for unauthorised commercial activities.
The company described the enforcement measure as part of efforts to combat logistics-related fraud, prevent abuse of the Dangote brand and ensure strict compliance with its haulage policies.
It also urged members of the public to provide detailed information when reporting suspicious activities, including the truck type, registration number, cab number, location, colour of the vehicle and the nature of the goods being transported.
The company encouraged whistleblowers to include photographs of the truck and its cargo where possible, noting that such evidence would assist investigators in identifying offenders and recovering unauthorised goods.
Dedicated telephone hotlines have also been established for members of the public to report suspected illegal haulage activities involving trucks operating from the company’s Obajana, Okpella and Gboko plants.
Reaffirming its commitment to sanitising its logistics operations, Dangote Industries called on Nigerians to support the campaign by exposing drivers, cargo owners and other individuals involved in the unlawful use of its vehicles.
“Public cooperation remains critical in our efforts to eradicate illegal haulage activities. We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and help us maintain the integrity of our transportation system,” the statement added.
The company maintained that the whistleblower initiative is designed not only to safeguard its assets and corporate identity but also to promote transparency, accountability and lawful business practices across its nationwide logistics network. It assured that all credible reports would aid ongoing investigations and help bring offenders to justice.
