The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has declared that President Bola Tinubu has failed to effectively address Nigeria’s worsening security challenges, warning that the country is becoming increasingly unsafe under the current administration.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Thursday, Baba-Ahmed expressed deep concern over the growing wave of kidnappings, violent attacks and general insecurity across the country, arguing that the government has been unable to guarantee the safety of citizens.

According to him, no part of Nigeria is immune from criminal activities, citing the recurring abduction of schoolchildren and other vulnerable groups as evidence of the deteriorating situation.

He lamented that the persistent kidnapping of children, including pupils and toddlers, reflects the severity of the nation’s security crisis and underscores the inability of authorities to protect citizens.

The PRP chairman accused the federal government of failing to acknowledge the gravity of the problem, alleging that President Tinubu and a small group of supporters appear to have accepted the security challenges as a normal reality.

Baba-Ahmed maintained that safeguarding lives and property is the primary responsibility of any government and argued that the administration has fallen short of that obligation.

He warned that unless urgent and decisive measures are taken, Nigerians could face even greater exposure to criminal activities in the period leading up to the next general elections.

The PRP leader further insisted that his party’s demand for Tinubu’s resignation was driven by concerns over national security rather than partisan politics. He argued that the President’s performance on insecurity had been poor and suggested that continued failure to address the crisis could lead to widespread public discontent.

Baba-Ahmed also contended that insecurity has become one of Nigeria’s most pressing national issues, noting that citizens, civil society groups and sections of the media have repeatedly raised concerns about the escalating violence and kidnappings occurring across the country.

He concluded by warning that if the current trend persists, Nigerians may ultimately reject the President at the polls, stressing that the security situation requires immediate and sustained government action.
