The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Akwa Ibom North-West after recording a sweeping victory across the district’s 10 local government areas.
According to the results announced at the conclusion of the party’s primary election, Akpabio amassed a total of 121,425 votes to clinch the APC nomination ahead of the 2027 general election.
The breakdown of the votes showed that the Senate President polled 11,895 votes in Abak, 12,877 in Essien Udim, 9,148 in Etim Ekpo, 9,325 in Ika, 10,153 in Ikono, 12,174 in Ikot Ekpene, 8,874 in Ini, 10,062 in Obot Akara, 19,586 in Oruk Anam and 17,328 votes in Ukanafun.
Reacting to the outcome, party supporters described the result as a reflection of Akpabio’s influence within the district and the APC structure in Akwa Ibom State.
