Olori Folashade Ashley Ogunwusi, the fourth wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has clarified why she referred to her newborn son as the ‘Crown Prince’ in a recent social media post.
The couple recently welcomed their first child together, and Olori Folashade took to social media to share the joyous news.
However, her use of the title ‘Crown Prince’ sparked reactions from some followers and social media users who felt it was inappropriate, pointing out that the Ooni already has two sons: Tadenikawo, born to his first estranged wife, Olori Naomi, and Oreade, a twin boy born to Olori Tobi Philips.
In response to the controversy, Olori Folashade explained the reasoning behind her choice of words in an Instagram post on Tuesday. She thanked God for a smooth pregnancy and noted that the journey had been a private and sacred experience for her and her husband.
She expressed deep gratitude to her husband, describing him as her “Crown Jewel” and a constant source of support throughout the pregnancy. “You are my world, my Crown Jewel, Erujeje Adimula Oko Mi,” she wrote, adding that nothing compares to the love they share.
Folashade further addressed the title of ‘Crown Prince,’ emphasizing the royal lineage of her son from both his parents’ sides. “A Prince from the Mother’s side of Ooni Adagba Royal Compound of Lafogido ruling house and a Prince from the Father’s side of Ooni Agbedegbede Royal Compound of Giesi ruling house,” she explained.
Encouraging other mothers to speak life and destiny into their children, Olori Folashade stated that it is a mother’s right and duty to declare greatness for her offspring. “As a mother, call forth and speak life to your children. Let them know who they are in this world and what they were destined to be,” she urged, adding that women should not apologize for speaking positivity over their children’s futures.
She concluded by thanking those who supported her during her pregnancy, particularly her sister and personal assistant, who helped maintain her social media presence and keep the pregnancy out of the public eye.
