President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of four newly confirmed ambassador-designates to key foreign missions, marking another step in the reorganisation of Nigeria’s diplomatic representation abroad.
The approval was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Ambassador Ayodele Oke has been posted to France as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate, while Colonel Lateef Are will represent the country as ambassador-designate to the United States of America.
President Tinubu also approved the posting of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu as Nigeria’s high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom. Dalhatu previously served as Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea.
In addition, former Kebbi State Governor, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, has been appointed as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Turkey.
The four appointments are drawn from the list of 68 ambassadorial nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
The development comes ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit to Turkey next week, a trip expected to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between both countries.
In a memo addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President directed the ministry to formally notify the host governments of the appointments in accordance with established diplomatic procedure.
