Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has spoken out against his family, accusing them of ruining his life and subjecting his wife, Natasha, to death threats following their recent public marital crisis.

The legendary singer made the allegations in a video posted on his social media page on Friday, breaking his silence after his family petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over allegations of assault and financial misconduct against Natasha.

The controversy intensified after videos of an altercation between 2Baba and Natasha in London surfaced online, prompting the Idibia family to take formal action.

In a letter dated November 12, 2025, the family urged police authorities to investigate incidents they claim have caused the singer emotional distress, financial losses, and damage to his reputation.

The petition alleges that Natasha physically assaulted 2Baba in both the United Kingdom and Abuja, based on reports from the singer himself and witnesses. The family further accused her of accessing and transferring funds from 2Baba’s phone and bank accounts without authorization, and withholding his personal documents, including his passport, thereby preventing him from fulfilling business commitments.

However, in his Friday response, 2Baba strongly defended Natasha and condemned his family’s intervention, insisting that the situation has spiraled dangerously out of control.

“This whole situation has gotten dangerously out of hand, Natasha is getting death threats. I will not stay silent anymore. I’m grown and have the right to do what I want and be with whoever I want,” 2Baba stated in the video.

The singer accused his family of causing irreparable harm to both him and Natasha through their actions.

“My family, who claimed they wanted to save me, have actually destroyed me and damaged someone’s daughter’s character,” he said.

2Baba downplayed the severity of his marital issues, characterizing them as normal disagreements that occur in every marriage.

“Natasha and I have had a quarrel, tell me who does not quarrel with their spouse. Things are getting out of hand but I’m perfectly okay,” he explained.

The music star also revealed that his family had previously interfered in his relationship with his estranged wife, Annie Idibia, suggesting a pattern of family involvement in his personal affairs.

“My family also did this same thing with Annie,” 2Baba disclosed.

The public feud has drawn widespread attention on social media, with fans divided over the family’s decision to petition law enforcement authorities and 2Baba’s decision to publicly challenge his relatives.

Some supporters have expressed concern for Natasha’s safety given the death threats she is reportedly receiving, while others have questioned 2Baba’s judgment in addressing such sensitive family matters publicly.

The singer’s marriage to Annie Idibia, with whom he has children, has been plagued by publicized issues over the years, largely stemming from his relationships with other women, including Natasha, with whom he also has children.

As of press time, neither the Idibia family nor law enforcement authorities have issued statements responding to 2Baba’s latest video or addressing the allegations contained in the petition.

The unfolding drama continues to generate significant public interest, with many Nigerians calling for privacy and reconciliation within the family.
