The Osun State Government has dismissed allegations of a ₦300 million fraud in one of its ministries or agencies, maintaining that Governor Ademola Adeleke is presiding over a transparent administration.

Speaking on Thursday, the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, rejected the claims and accused the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress of fabricating what he termed “beer parlour gossip” for political gain.

“There is no three hundred million naira scam or scandal in any Osun government agency or ministry. Governor Adeleke is a transparent and open governance leader who has never and will never tolerate corruption nor shield any official if such misdemeanour ever exists,” Rasheed stated.

He characterized the opposition’s allegation as a calculated attempt to divert attention from its declining political influence in the state.

“Beer parlour gossip elevated to the level of party propaganda cannot whitewash a badly battered opposition like the APC. No amount of fake news can change the reality that APC and its aspirants are unelectable as far as the 2026 election is concerned,” the spokesperson declared.

Rasheed explained that Osun State operates under a strict procurement law with clearly defined thresholds, tendering processes, and oversight mechanisms that make such allegations implausible.

“Aside approval limits and the tendering process, the procurement system has strict compliance procedures under which no such corruption could be perpetrated. The press statement containing the allegations is the lowest ebb in the downgrading process facing the APC,” he said.

The spokesperson warned that the allegation was not only defamatory but also constituted an unfounded smear campaign, hinting that the government might pursue legal action against those responsible for the claims.

“We deny the allegation as a reprehensible lie from pit of hell. Governor Adeleke is a transparent and open governance leader who has never and will never tolerate corruption nor shield any official if such misdemeanour ever exist,” Rasheed emphasized.

The denial comes amid heightened political tensions in Osun State as parties position themselves ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election, with opposition parties intensifying scrutiny of the Adeleke administration’s policies and spending.

The APC had not issued an official response to the government’s denial as of the time of filing this report.
