Dangote Industries Limited has issued a stern warning to truck operators who are illegally using its corporate logo on their vehicles, citing significant damage to the company’s reputation and brand image.
The industrial conglomerate expressed frustration that despite multiple public notices, numerous truckers with no connection to Dangote continue to display the company’s logo on their vehicles for unknown reasons. This unauthorized branding has led to several incidents where vehicles falsely identified as Dangote fleet have been involved in road accidents and criminal activities, unfairly linking the company to these events.
The misuse of Dangote’s brand identity has become increasingly problematic, with the company now threatening legal action against violators. Company officials emphasized that they will intensify monitoring efforts and pursue decisive legal measures against anyone caught using their logo without authorization, particularly on vehicles that have no affiliation with the Dangote Group.
Beyond the logo misuse issue, Dangote also raised concerns about the spread of false information, particularly criticizing media outlets that automatically attribute road accidents to its vehicle fleet without proper verification. The company called on journalists and the general public to conduct thorough fact-checking before publishing stories, condemning what it described as attempts to exploit tragic incidents for malicious or financial purposes.
As one of Africa’s largest commercial trucking operators, Dangote revealed the massive scope of its logistics operations, running more than 12,000 vehicles across Nigeria. The company noted that over 3,000 of these vehicles are managed through third-party contractors, while deploying more than 6,000 trucks daily to maintain its extensive supply chain operations.
The company’s trucking operations have created substantial employment opportunities, directly and indirectly supporting over 36,000 jobs throughout Nigeria. To maintain high operational standards, Dangote works closely with the Federal Road Safety Corps and other regulatory agencies to monitor and improve its fleet management practices.
Company representatives highlighted their commitment to continuous improvement through regular internal audits, global best practices adoption, and enhanced compliance measures across their entire fleet. Moving forward, Dangote pledged to strengthen its collaboration with law enforcement agencies to crack down on logo misuse while pursuing all available legal remedies against offenders who continue to damage the company’s reputation through unauthorized brand use.
