Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Armed Forces at Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Defense Complex

President Bola Tinubu has pledged to prioritize the welfare of officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to their well-being and the security of the nation.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of a new defense complex and the inauguration of the Bola Tinubu Army Barracks in Abuja on Thursday, the President expressed deep gratitude to members of the armed forces for their dedication and sacrifices under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.

“This ceremony marks the start of a construction project and the foundation of a renewed commitment to our military and the values we hold dear as a democracy,” Tinubu said. “On this occasion, we open a new chapter in our nation’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our people. As Commander-in-Chief, I pledge to support our troops and their families.”

The President reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to build a professional and well-equipped military that reflects national pride. “Under our Renewed Hope Administration, I reaffirm my commitment to building a well-equipped and truly professional military that embodies our nation’s pride,” he added.

Tinubu also commended the efforts of the armed forces, particularly in safeguarding the nation’s peace and development. “I want to use this moment to personally commend the remarkable efforts of our armed forces under the leadership of the CDS, General CG Musa, who stands guard with the Service Chiefs and men against the evil forces that seek to retard our cherished peace and development,” he said. “Your dedication, courage, and resilience protect our freedoms and uphold the very principles upon which our nation was founded.”

On the significance of the new defense complex, Tinubu stated that it would symbolize national respect and admiration for the armed forces. “As we break the ground on this Armed Forces Complex, let it symbolize our nation’s respect and admiration for your unwavering service and our dedication to providing the resources you need to function better,” he noted.

He described the defense complex as a future hub of excellence. “This edifice, when completed, will not only stand as a center of loyalty but a national monument that every Nigerian would be proud of. It will be a hub of excellence, re-energizing able leaders who are committed to the safety of our citizens,” the President said.

Tinubu also highlighted the importance of strengthening local production of military equipment to enhance the country’s defense capabilities. “I am particularly proud to share that our efforts in developing a military-industrial complex have begun to yield positive results,” he remarked.

The event marked another step in the administration’s commitment to supporting the armed forces and ensuring the security and stability of the nation.
