The Chairman of the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, has expressed unwavering confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Friday, January 3, 2025, in Abuja, Zazzaga asserted that no political force could thwart Tinubu’s re-election bid. He maintained that the President’s policies, aimed at reforming the nation, would win him overwhelming support from Nigerians by the next general elections.

Zazzaga, who served as a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 elections, was responding to recent comments by Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, Chairman of the Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Dungurawa had on Thursday, January 2, 2025, during a press conference in Kano, warned Tinubu to prepare for defeat in 2027. He criticized the President’s policies, describing them as anti-people and detrimental to the welfare of Nigerians.

“With these harsh policies, Tinubu should expect nothing but defeat in the next election unless he changes course. Otherwise, we, the people of Nigeria, will ensure a change,” Dungurawa declared.

He further predicted that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s national leader and former presidential candidate, would emerge victorious in 2027. According to him, Kwankwaso represents the change Nigerians are yearning for.

APC Confident of Retaining Power
In a swift rebuttal, Zazzaga dismissed Dungurawa’s remarks as baseless, insisting that Tinubu’s administration is on track to deliver unprecedented reforms. He lauded the President’s “bold and courageous” decisions, such as the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, which, he argued, were necessary to revive the economy.

“These measures, though painful in the short term, are steps no previous administration had the courage to take. President Tinubu deserves commendation for prioritizing the nation’s long-term progress over short-term populism,” Zazzaga said.

He expressed optimism that Nigerians would soon begin to witness the positive impact of these policies, which he believes would cement Tinubu’s chances of re-election in 2027.

As political discourse intensifies ahead of the 2027 elections, the APC and the NNPP appear poised for a fierce contest, with both parties staking their claims to the presidency.
