Governor Umo Eno Signs Akwa Ibom’s ₦955 Billion 2025 Budget into Law

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has officially signed the state’s ₦955 billion 2025 budget, tagged the “Budget of Consolidation and Expansion,” into law. The governor emphasized that the budget will be implemented efficiently in alignment with his ARISE Agenda project.

Governor Eno signed the budget on Tuesday at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo. The event was witnessed by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Udeme Otong, members of the State Executive Council, and other state legislators.

In his remarks after the signing ceremony, Governor Eno commended the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for its swift passage of the budget. He highlighted the strong collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government, which he credited as instrumental in ensuring the budget’s timely approval. The governor called for continued cooperation to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Akwa Ibom.

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly had earlier passed the budget into law on Tuesday, December 24, following the adoption of the report presented by Dr. Itoro Etim, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance. After adopting the report, the House dissolved into the Committee of the Whole to deliberate on the details. The budget was subsequently read for the third time and passed into law.

The 2025 budget allocates ₦300 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦655 billion for capital expenditure, reflecting a strategic focus on development and infrastructure. The budget’s total outlay represents a 3% increase from the ₦923.412 billion revised provision for 2024.

Governor Eno reiterated his administration’s commitment to the prudent implementation of the budget to ensure sustainable growth and development for the state. The “Budget of Consolidation and Expansion” is expected to build on the achievements of the previous fiscal year and drive progress in key sectors of the state’s economy.
