Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has presented a ₦605 billion budget proposal for the 2025 fiscal year before the Edo State House of Assembly, marking a 25 percent increase from the previous year’s budget.

During the presentation on Tuesday, Governor Okpebholo described the proposed budget, tagged “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” as a product of extensive consultations aimed at ensuring accountability, transparency, and responsive service delivery to the people of Edo State.

“This proposed Appropriation Bill is the result of wide consultations and is designed to achieve the goals of my five-point agenda: Security, Infrastructure Development, Healthcare, Food Sufficiency, and Education,” Okpebholo stated. He emphasized that the budget was also crafted in alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which will guide the state’s development plan for 2025.

According to the governor, 37% of the budget, which amounts to ₦223 billion, will be allocated to recurrent expenditure, while the remaining 63%, or ₦381 billion, will be invested in capital projects. Okpebholo noted that road infrastructure would be a key focus, with a significant ₦162 billion earmarked for road development across the state.

“This budget will ensure responsive service delivery and is designed to build on the progress we have made while addressing the challenges ahead,” Okpebholo added, highlighting the importance of infrastructure and other key sectors for the development of the state.
