Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has officially approved a new minimum wage of ₦75,000 for civil servants in the state.
This move is part of his administration’s ongoing commitment to prioritize the welfare of state workers and improve their living standards.
The announcement was made in a statement by Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment. According to Alimi, the wage increase follows the receipt of the report from the Public Service Negotiation Committee. The committee, which led the discussions, was co-chaired by Kazeem Akinleye, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, and Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Alimi emphasized that the new wage structure is a reflection of Governor Adeleke’s dedication to social justice and economic growth, particularly for the state’s hardworking civil servants. The decision, he stated, was made in recognition of the essential role workers play in providing quality public service despite the state’s limited resources.
“The implementation of the ₦75,000 minimum wage underscores our commitment to uplifting the living standards of Osun workers, fostering economic development, and ensuring a fairer society for all,” the statement read.
Alimi further urged all civil servants to continue striving for excellence in service delivery, urging them to embrace innovation and work towards enhancing transparency and accountability for the progress of the state. The Governor’s office expressed its hope that this new wage structure would inspire greater productivity and dedication from the state’s civil servants.
