Kaduna State Presents ₦100,000 and Gifts to Minors Freed from #EndBadGovernance Protest Detention

In a show of support, the Kaduna State government, under Governor Uba Sani, has presented financial assistance and gifts to 39 individuals, many of whom are minors who were recently detained by the Federal Government following their involvement in the August #EndBadGovernance protest.

These youths were reunited with their families on Wednesday during a gathering at the “Children’s Homes” facility on Katuru Road, Kaduna. As part of the reintegration effort, each received ₦100,000 and a smartphone from the state government.

Governor Sani, through his representative, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, assured the attendees of ongoing state support, pledging resources for rehabilitation, empowerment, and personal development. He added that the administration is committed to helping these youths transition smoothly back into society, emphasizing programs to foster their growth into responsible citizens.

Speaking at the event, Meyere detailed that Governor Sani had directed the collection of credentials from those who completed tertiary education, with plans to provide start-up capital, vocational training, and employment opportunities. “Some will receive funding for small businesses, others skills training, and some may be offered jobs,” Meyere announced, underscoring the government’s dedication to ensuring each child’s well-being and potential success.

To monitor progress, officials recorded contact information, including addresses, phone numbers, and next-of-kin details. Upon their release, the youths underwent full medical assessments and received psychosocial counseling to aid in their reintegration.

The Kaduna State government collaborated with both Islamic and Christian leaders to offer additional moral guidance, with clerics highlighting the importance of faith and cautioning against harmful influences. Meyere explained that each individual was gifted a phone to replace those they lost while in detention, adding, “The Governor graciously granted each of them ₦100,000 as a gesture of goodwill and encouragement.”
