The Presidency has provided further clarification on the recent cabinet reshuffle by President Bola Tinubu, clarifying that the ministers affected were not “sacked” but rather “discharged” from their duties.

This clarification was provided by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, during an interview with TVC.

Onanuga emphasized that the term “sacked” does not accurately describe the ministers’ exit from the cabinet. “The ministers were discharged, not sacked,” he said, highlighting a more neutral interpretation of their departure.

The reshuffle, announced on Wednesday, led to the discharge of several ministers, including Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Gwarzo (Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development), and Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development). At the same time, seven new ministers were appointed, marking a new chapter in Tinubu’s administration.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, confirmed that his office is actively working with the Head of Civil Service of the Federation to implement the President’s directive regarding the merger and dissolution of certain ministries.

In a statement released in Abuja, Akume announced that all necessary directives have been issued to ensure the smooth execution of the President’s decisions. The restructuring is part of the broader effort to streamline governance and enhance the efficiency of Tinubu’s administration.
