The Take It Back Movement, a prominent organizer of the #EndBadGovernance protests, has announced plans for a massive one-million-man demonstration scheduled for Saturday, set to take place across all 36 states of Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Sanyaolu Juwon, the National Coordinator of the movement, made the announcement on Thursday in Abuja. He stated, “The Take It Back Movement (TIB), in collaboration with other organizers and organizations, will on August 10 lead a monumental one-million-man protest in each of the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.”
Juwon described the upcoming event as a pivotal moment in the ongoing nationwide EndBadGovernanceInNigeria campaign, which first launched on August 1, 2024.
“Initially planned as a 10-day protest, it has since grown into a sustained and widespread movement, attracting participants from all parts of Nigeria and the diaspora,” Juwon added.
The protest, which began on August 1, is set to reach its conclusion on Saturday, August 10. The movement’s primary objective is to draw attention to the significant hardships citizens are enduring, urging all levels of government to respond with prompt and effective action.
Despite facing challenges, including attempts by criminal elements to disrupt the protests, participation has remained strong nationwide, with significant turnouts, particularly in the northern states.
In a national broadcast on Sunday, President Bola Tinubu urged protesters to stand down, requesting more time for his administration to address their concerns. Nevertheless, demonstrations have continued in Abuja, Kano, and various other parts of the country.
