The House of Representatives alleged on Tuesday that the female suicide bombers responsible for the recent deadly attack in Borno State were not locals but imported from outside the state. This claim was made following the consideration of a motion of urgent national importance by Representative Ahmed Jaha.
Condemning the attack, Jaha revealed that investigations indicated the bombers were “recruited, brainwashed, and imported from outside the state” to carry out the suicide bombing in Gwoza. The attack resulted in over 30 fatalities and more than 180 critical injuries, with victims currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across the state.
The House resolution emphasized the ongoing threat of terrorism in Nigeria and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to prevent future occurrences.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has declared that the recent bombings signify that Nigeria is slipping into a state of war. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, explained that the terrorists’ actions were a desperate response to recent military successes that have significantly weakened their leadership, resources, and influence.
“The terrorists embarked on these cowardly attacks against innocent citizens to project an image of strength to cover their weakness and decline,” Buba noted. He urged citizens to see through the terrorists’ tactics, remain vigilant, and support the armed forces in their efforts to secure a peaceful future.
