Yunusa Tanko, the media spokesperson for Peter Obi, has disclosed that numerous politicians and political parties are interested in collaborating with Obi in the lead-up to the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Monday, Tanko emphasized that Nigerians are increasingly disillusioned with the current government’s misrule.

“Nigerians, political parties, and leaders are tired of the shenanigans and propaganda happening in Nigeria,” Tanko stated. “In that regard, many Nigerian politicians are interested in working with Mr. Peter Obi to get Nigerians out of the woods.”

This revelation coincides with ongoing speculation about a potential merger between Peter Obi’s Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP). According to Quicktell News, discussions about such a merger are gaining traction.

In response to these rumors, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, outlined his conditions for any potential alliance. During an interview with NoireTV over the weekend, Obi stated that he would consider merging with another party only if it serves the greater good of Nigeria.

Reacting to a statement by Atiku Abubakar regarding the possibility of a merger, Obi insisted that any alliance must prioritize improving governance and aiding the poor, rather than merely focusing on winning elections or capturing state power.

“The alliance must be focused on improving governance and helping the poor, not just winning elections or for state capture,” Obi asserted, highlighting his commitment to meaningful political reform and the betterment of the Nigerian people.
