The Kano State Government announced on Monday that the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano was executed in the best interest of the state.
This decision follows the recent deposition of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and four other emirs by Governor Abba Yusuf, leading to the reunification of the Kano Emirate under Sanusi’s leadership.
In a statement, Commissioner of Information Baba Halilu Dantiye emphasized that the decision was made after careful deliberation aimed at benefiting the state. He noted that a significant portion of the populace supports the reinstatement, recognizing the long-term advantages of a unified emirate structure.
“The administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf’s decision to legally abrogate the emirates and reinstate the 14th Emir of Kano State was made with the state’s best interests in mind. This move has been welcomed by many who understand and appreciate the long-term benefits of a unified emirate structure,” Dantiye stated.
Dantiye also urged the public to disregard sensationalized media reports and to support the government’s efforts to foster a more cohesive and unified state. He called on journalists to practice responsible journalism by verifying facts before publishing reports that could cause unnecessary tension.
“The Kano State government under the leadership of Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to the progress and development of the state. We call on all citizens to join hands in this effort,” he added.
