President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his deep condolences following the tragic death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. President Raisi, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, was involved in a fatal helicopter crash on Sunday.
According to reports, the helicopter carrying President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials developed a hard landing near Jolfa, a city on the border with Azerbaijan in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province. The helicopter went missing on Sunday afternoon, prompting an extensive search and rescue operation.
Early Monday, relief workers discovered the wreckage, and state TV confirmed the unfortunate news of President Raisi’s death.
In a statement issued Monday morning by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu conveyed his condolences to the government and citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He expressed deep sorrow over the distressing incident and praised President Raisi as a dedicated leader who worked tirelessly for Iran’s progress.
President Tinubu extended his sympathies to the grieving families and offered prayers for the enduring peace, stability, and prosperity of the Iranian nation.
