The Committee of Diaspora Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (CDC-APC) has made a fervent appeal to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the escalating crisis surrounding the conduct of elections into the United Kingdom (UK) chapter of the group.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the group emphasized the need for President Tinubu’s swift intervention to avert unfavorable outcomes for the diaspora chapter and the party as a whole. Allegations of compromise in the election process into the UK Diaspora Chapter have sparked concerns within the APC ranks.

In a statement released on Monday, the chairman of the group, Adesegun Labinjo, and the secretary, Bola Babarinde, expressed deep concern over the potential ramifications of the botched election, warning of an imminent catastrophe if not addressed promptly.

“The lasting solutions which we all yearn for may elude the chapter and other chapters in Diaspora if the current crisis is not resolved swiftly,” the statement read.

The CDC-APC also called for an end to the frosty relationship between their organization and the APC headquarters, stressing that diaspora chapters are not in competition with the party’s leadership. They reiterated their commitment to supporting and complementing the party’s efforts, leveraging the strength and spread of their supporters abroad for the benefit of the party and the nation.

Furthermore, the group condemned what they described as “divide and rule” tactics employed by certain elements within the party’s secretariat, urging the party chairman to address the issue promptly. They accused some individuals of prioritizing personal interests over the well-being of the party and called for unity among diaspora chapters and between the chapters and the party’s leadership.

As tensions continue to rise within the CDC-APC over the disputed election, all eyes are now on President Tinubu’s response to the plea for intervention, with hopes that his intervention will help restore peace and unity within the diaspora chapter and the APC as a whole.
