During the seventh edition of the Nigerian International Energy Summit held in Abuja, Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), announced the company’s commitment to resolving the persistent fuel shortage in the country within the next ten years.

In a statement released by the NNPCL Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, Kyari assured Nigerians that the era of energy scarcity would soon be a thing of the past, emphasizing the company’s dedication to collaborating with stakeholders to bridge the energy deficit gap and foster prosperity across the nation.

Kyari expressed confidence that significant progress would be made within the specified timeframe, stating, “From all indications, all issues of energy scarcity in the country would be over in the next 10 years.”

Highlighting the NNPCL’s pivotal role as a key partner to oil-producing companies in Nigeria, Kyari reassured stakeholders that the company’s involvement in the divestment of assets from international oil companies aimed at enhancing energy security. He emphasized the NNPCL’s facilitative role in this process, aiming to ensure optimal and sustainable production from divested assets to guarantee energy security for the Nigerian populace.

With its statutory mandate as the enabler of national energy security, the NNPCL remains committed to fulfilling its role in fostering a reliable and sustainable energy landscape in Nigeria, thereby contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development.
