A presidential media aide, Dada Olusegun, has criticized media personality Oseni Rufai for his comments regarding President Bola Tinubu’s decision to implement the Steve Oronsaye report on civil service reforms.

President Tinubu, during Monday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, announced plans to implement the Oronsaye report as part of efforts to reduce the cost of governance.

The report, submitted on April 16, 2012, highlighted a high level of competition among numerous overlapping government agencies, leading to unnecessary expenditure. It recommended reducing the number of statutory agencies from 263 to 161, abolishing 38 agencies, and merging 52.

Reacting to Tinubu’s announcement, Rufai questioned the government’s focus, urging clarification on the alleged financial mismanagement case involving the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu.

“Before telling us about the Oronsaye report, the government should give more details on the humanitarian minister’s case,” Rufai wrote on Tuesday.

In response, Olusegun criticized Rufai, labeling him as an “immature grandstanding and goalpost shifting expert.”
