Femi Adesina, the former special adviser to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, has expressed concern over the misrepresentation of the content in his book, ‘Working with Buhari.’ Adesina took to the X platform on Saturday to address what he described as contortionists twisting the narrative to suit their own agendas.
In the post, Adesina highlighted two major points that have been erroneously interpreted. Firstly, he disputed the claim that he mentioned in the book that the late Chief of Staff to Buhari, Abba Kyari, denied him access to the President for five years during their tenure. Secondly, he refuted the assertion that the government planned to kill Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Adesina clarified, “They lie that there was a plot to kill Nnamdi Kanu abroad. Very opposite of things I wrote. And it’s written in English.” The former presidential media aide emphasized that there is no such information in the book and urged readers to refer to the actual content for accurate information.
The book, titled “Working with Buhari: Reflections of A Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015-2023),” was launched in Abuja on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. It provides insights into President Buhari’s time in office from 2015 to 2023 through the perspective of his media aide. Adesina’s response underscores the importance of accurate interpretation and the potential consequences of misrepresenting written works.
