Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed dissatisfaction with the inadequate response of Abia youths to the ongoing police recruitment exercise. The governor, through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, revealed that out of the 700 candidates invited for interviews in the recruitment process, none showed up.
The statement reads, “Regrettably, about 700 candidates invited for interview in the ongoing recruitment exercise are yet to show up.
“To this end, the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, has directed all local government Mayors, Chairmen of traditional rulers Councils and their members in all the LGAs, Presidents-general of town unions, and community leaders to immediately mobilize their youths for this very important exercise to ensure that the state’s quota is filled.
Additionally, the statement urged all candidates who have received invitations for the interview but have not attended for various reasons to approach the Office of the Commissioner for Information and Culture for further clarifications.
“The Governor further directed all those who have been invited for the interview as a matter of urgency, to appear for the exercise.
The governor emphasized the significance of Abia’s active participation in various aspects of Nigeria’s socio-political and economic life, stating that the state cannot afford to be excluded from national processes. The call for immediate mobilization aims to address the observed shortfall in the representation of Abia youths in the ongoing police recruitment exercise.
