In a shocking incident that unfolded in Kwalfada, a village situated in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, a father paid the ultimate price for opposing a bandit’s proposal to marry his daughter.

The gruesome event was confirmed by a resident of the area, Mallam Rabo, who shared the tragic details with journalists. According to Rabo, a bandit had proposed marriage to a young girl from the village. However, her father vehemently rejected the proposal, leading to unforeseen consequences.

In a horrifying turn of events, the father decided to give his daughter’s hand in marriage to another man from the village, defying the bandit’s wishes. This decision proved fatal, as the enraged bandits later invaded the community, ruthlessly killing the father.

Disturbingly, the assailants didn’t stop at the murder; they went on to issue a chilling demand. The bandits instructed the newlywed husband to divorce his wife so that their comrade could marry her. To enforce their directive, they threatened the husband with death if he did not comply.

Faced with the ominous threat, the husband had no choice but to comply. He immediately divorced his wife, who was subsequently remarried to the bandit. The bandit then abducted the young bride, taking her into the depths of the forest.

Mallam Rabo expressed deep distress over the prolonged reign of terror inflicted upon the community by the bandits. He highlighted the authorities’ failure to take decisive measures to ensure the safety of the residents. Rabo also revealed that the bandits had recently imposed a staggering levy of N4 million on the village, adding to the community’s woes.

This tragic incident sheds light on the escalating security challenges faced by communities in Zamfara State, with residents living in fear as banditry continues to wreak havoc on their lives.
