Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has lauded the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that they are conducive for attracting Foreign Direct Investments (FDI). Mbah expressed his confidence in the safety of the state for investors and emphasized the positive impact of unified foreign exchange rates on Enugu’s FDI initiatives.

In a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday evening, Governor Mbah commended the President for policies such as the unification of foreign exchange rates, which he believes will significantly boost Enugu State’s ability to attract investments.

Mbah revealed that the Enugu State Government is actively pursuing collaborations with the federal government to realize key infrastructure projects. One of the major initiatives is the construction of a cargo terminal and the completion of the international wing of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. According to the governor, these projects are essential for transforming Enugu into an enhanced logistics hub and attracting the desired investments to the state.

While acknowledging the initial challenges posed by some of the Federal Government’s economic policies, such as the removal of fuel subsidy, Governor Mbah emphasized their long-term benefits for the nation’s troubled economy. He asserted that these policies, though tough in the short term, are bold therapies that will ultimately benefit the citizens.

Responding to questions about the security situation in Enugu State, Governor Mbah reassured that the state is now conducive for investment. He declared an end to the sit-at-home directive and highlighted the resumption of normal economic activities, dispelling concerns about insecurity in the Southeast region.

“The sit-at-home thing is gone. We no longer have a sit-at-home in Enugu State, and I dare say in the South East. Enugu State is open for business,” Governor Mbah affirmed, urging potential investors to consider the state for their ventures.

In conclusion, Governor Mbah stressed the importance of collaboration between Enugu State and the Federal Government, emphasizing the need to work closely to achieve developmental goals and create an environment conducive to investment in the state.
