The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, was awarded the prestigious title of “Best Politician of the Year 2023” at the Global Affairs Magazine Award (GAMA). The event, which took place recently, aimed to honor individuals across various fields for their outstanding contributions.
Among the distinguished awardees were renowned figures such as veteran actor Kanayo O Kanayo, reggae musician Orits Wiliki, and vocalist Yinka Davies, acknowledged for their remarkable impact on the Nigerian entertainment scene. Arise News’ Rufai Oseni was recognized as the ‘Most Courageous Television Host.’
Comedian Koffi Nuel and Daniel Olukoya, the founder of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, were also among the recipients, receiving awards for their notable service to humanity. The event’s theme, “A Channel of Hope Where There is Despair,” reflected the overarching mission to spotlight individuals and organizations making significant, selfless contributions, particularly in humanitarian areas.
Regina Robinson, the convener of GAMA, emphasized the purpose of the event—to acknowledge those who have made impactful contributions. Bala Abraham, chairman of Global Affairs Magazine, seized the occasion to announce the launch of the GAM Foundation, dedicated to addressing the needs of the underprivileged in society.
Entrepreneurs Dr. Akintoye Akindele and Dr. Segun Musa, as well as Pastor Wale Adefarasin, Ebuwa Iguehon, Dr. John Ejezie, Rev. Ngozi Okorie, Eze Chika Nwokedi, Olawale Shittu, and former World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Dr. Osita Offor were also among the esteemed awardees.
Koffi Nuel expressed gratitude to the organizers and his family for their unwavering support, while Orits Wiliki appreciated the recognition during his lifetime, dedicating his award to his family.
