Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy Senate President and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has expressed his rejection of the verdict delivered by the Court of Appeal, which affirmed the victory of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The Court of Appeal, sitting in Lagos on Friday, delivered a unanimous judgment, upholding the election of Oborevwori, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of the March 18 poll in the state. The appellate court concluded that Omo-Agege’s appeal lacked merit.
In response to the court’s decision, Omo-Agege characterized it as a “redemption deferred for Deltans” and indicated his intention to proceed to the Supreme Court to seek justice. In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Sunny Areh, the former Deputy Senate President called on his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding.
The statement conveyed Omo-Agege’s firm belief that justice has not been served to the people of Delta State who voted for him and the APC. It emphasized his commitment to defending the faith placed in him by the electorate and expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would thoroughly examine overlooked aspects at the Appeal Court and deliver justice in the case.
“We will proceed to the Supreme Court. The issues at stake touch on the future and well-being of the people who voted for a New Delta. We have a duty to respect them by defending their faith in us with every sense of diligence and responsibility. We don’t waver on what is right,” the statement asserted.
Omo-Agege conveyed his confidence in the esteemed Justices of the Supreme Court, expressing optimism that they would rectify any oversights and ensure justice for the people of Delta State.
