Kano State Governor Reacts to Appeal Court Ruling, Attributes Loss to Political Vendetta

KANO STATE GOVERNOR, ABBA KABIR YUSUF

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has broken his silence following the recent Appeal Court ruling that led to his removal from office. In a stakeholder meeting of the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Kano, Yusuf attributed his political setbacks, including the recent court ruling, to what he claimed were targeted attacks against his political godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

During the meeting, attended by key figures such as the state deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Ismail Falgore, federal lawmaker Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, and leaders of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Yusuf spoke at length for the first time since the appellate court affirmed the tribunal’s judgment that ousted him.

Yusuf acknowledged the challenges he faced and expressed gratitude to Kwankwaso for his leadership and guidance. He emphasized the importance of continuing to work under Kwankwaso’s direction to achieve their goals.

“Like it was explained, we are going to continue working under his (Kwankwaso) guidance and leadership to do the needful, God willing. But we must appreciate him (Kwankwaso) and be immensely grateful to him, and we have to tell him that we are really proud of him,” said Yusuf.

Despite the setbacks, Yusuf urged party leaders not to lose hope and advised against engaging in bitter exchanges. Instead, he encouraged them to channel their energy towards motivating the people of Kano. Yusuf also assured the continuation of ongoing people-centric projects, including initiatives supporting women and children and addressing pension and gratuity concerns.

The meeting marked Governor Yusuf’s response to the recent legal developments and provided an opportunity for him to address his supporters and party members, rallying them to remain focused on their political objectives.
