The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a call for a de-escalation of the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

The statement, signed by Ambassador Yusuf M. Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, expresses deep concern over the hostilities that erupted between Israel and Hamas on Saturday.

Nigeria’s government is urging an immediate de-escalation of the situation and a ceasefire to halt the violence. The statement emphasizes the destructive cycle of violence and retaliation that characterizes the current escalation, which ultimately inflicts pain and suffering on civilian populations caught in the crossfire.

“The cycle of violence and retaliation that the current escalation has assumed, only serves to perpetuate an unending cycle of pain and suffering for the civilian population that bears the brunt of every conflict.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria, therefore, calls on both sides to exercise restraint, prioritize the safety of civilians and give room for humanitarian considerations.

“We are therefore calling for a peaceful resolution of the conflict through dialogue,” the statement said.

The Federal Government of Nigeria is appealing to both parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint, prioritize the safety of civilians, and allow for humanitarian considerations. The government’s stance underscores the importance of seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict through dialogue.

As the Israel-Palestine crisis continues to unfold, Nigeria joins the international community in advocating for an end to hostilities and a return to diplomatic efforts to resolve the longstanding issues in the region.
