Autopsy Concluded in Mohbad’s Death Investigation, Results Awaited

The investigation into the untimely demise of the renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, the Nigerian Police have disclosed that the autopsy on the late artist has been successfully conducted.

Mohbad’s body had been exhumed as part of the ongoing efforts to determine the cause of his death.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Spokesman, shared this update on the investigation via X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday evening. Hundeyin revealed that the autopsy procedure had been completed, and they are now awaiting the results.

He wrote: “Autopsy has been concluded. Awaiting result…“

The tragic passing of the 27-year-old singer occurred on September 12, 2023, and he was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State, the following day. His sudden death led to a flurry of reactions and speculations from the public, with some Nigerians pointing fingers at his former boss, Naira Marley, and music promoter, Sam Larry, as potential culprits behind his demise.

In response to the growing concerns and demands for justice, protests erupted in various parts of the country, including Lagos and Ogun, as Nigerians called on the police to uncover the truth behind Mohbad’s death.

Acting on the directive of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, a forensic investigation was ordered to unravel the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing. The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa, subsequently assembled a ten-member team, including a pathologist, tasked with exhuming the late singer’s body and conducting a thorough investigation.

As the nation awaits the results of the autopsy, the findings are anticipated to shed light on the cause of Mohbad’s tragic death and may provide closure to the grieving fans and concerned citizens who have been closely following this case.
