The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, has issued a warning to Nigerians regarding the sharing of explicit photos. Hundeyin advised citizens to exercise caution and take preventive measures when sharing such content, emphasizing the importance of protecting one’s identity.
Hundeyin highlighted the risk associated with sharing explicit photos without safeguards, urging individuals to cover their faces or any distinguishing marks before sharing such images with others. He emphasized that even videos can be recorded, and screenshots captured, underscoring the need for vigilance when it comes to online privacy.
Expressing concern about the increasing incidents of individuals falling victim to blackmail involving their explicit photos, Hundeyin revealed that he has received numerous reports from victims. He stressed the importance of not placing trust in anyone when it comes to sharing sensitive content and recommended taking adequate precautions.
In his statement, Hundeyin stated, “If you must send nudes, at least do one-view or cover your face or any other identification mark. And do not forget that video calls can be screen shot/recorded. For others, it is a clandestine recording of their intimate moments, of course without consent.”
He further cautioned, “Trust no one. Take adequate precautions. Trust your instincts too. And do not forget to reach incb.npf.gov.ng in the unfortunate event you fall victim to this.”
